FAQ

Answers to the most common support questions. Score questions are covered in depth under Conformance Scores.

Scores

Why is my Anti-Spoofing (M5) score 49%?

One prefix in your network passed spoofed packets during a CAIDA Spoofer test this month. The figure isn't arbitrary: M5 counts the distinct prefixes that leaked spoofed packets and maps that count through an exponential decay curve calibrated so a raw penalty of 0.5 scores 60% — one affected prefix (raw 1) works out to ≈49%, and each additional prefix lowers it further. See Anti-Spoofing for how to find and fix it.

Why is my Anti-Spoofing (M5) score blank (-)?

No public Spoofer test results were observed from your ASN this month. Run the Spoofer client from inside your network (not behind NAT, IPv4 + IPv6) with "Allow anonymized test results to be shared publicly" enabled. Repeat monthly.

I fixed the problem, why hasn't my score recovered?

Incident-based scores (leaks, hijacks, bogons, spoofer failures) aggregate over the whole calendar month, so an incident counts against you until the month rolls over even after you fix the cause. Registration scores (IRR and RPKI) reflect new data within about a day, as reports regenerate daily.

I created ROAs but the Observatory (M7RPKI) still shows "unknown"

ROA data syncs roughly every 12 hours and reports regenerate daily, so new coverage typically reflects within about a day. Verify the ROAs are valid at your RIR portal in the meantime. See Routing Information.

Why does the Observatory disagree with RIPE / Cloudflare / FORT?

The Observatory evaluates only prefixes actually announced in BGP. Point-in-time validators evaluate all ROAs instantly. Small differences are expected.

An incident on my report is wrong

Incidents come from GRIP. Look up the event ID from your conformance report there. If it's misclassified, open a ticket with the event ID and an explanation.

Conformance reports

How do I change or add a recipient for the monthly conformance report?

Open a ticket with the name, position, and email address of the new recipient, and the ASN(s) involved.

How do I stop receiving conformance reports?

Use the opt-out link at the bottom of the report email, or open a ticket.

My report was empty or missing

Usually a data-processing issue on our side. Open a ticket with the ASN and month; we can regenerate and resend it.

Account & ASNs

I can't log in / never received the password reset email

Emails come from no-reply@observatory.manrs.org, so check spam and whitelist the domain. If nothing arrives, open a ticket (or email support) and we'll check whether an account exists for your address.

How do I add another ASN to my participation?

Submit a new application at manrs.org for the additional ASN; it goes through the normal conformance audit.

We migrated to a new ASN, how do I update?

Submit an application for the new ASN, then open a ticket asking us to remove the old one once the migration is complete.

How do I add a team member to our organization?

Your primary contact can invite team members directly from your participant page in the Observatory, no ticket needed. Open the participant page and use the invite option to send an account invitation.
